UK Weather Reports & Discussion WC 7th November

Umm.....NON-EVENT.....again...

Well what a surprise, certainly nothing of note here and without knowing what weather was expected i wouldnt have even looked out the door twice with what winds we had during yesterday.
I can only assume thats partly due to the fact that we are in the Tone Valley here and speaking in broad terms surrounded by hills. Did consider heading to the N Somerset coast but in view of forecasted 60mph gusts thought better of it. Could have driven there without problems but would there have been anything worth seeing, that i will never know now.
Never mind.

Graham, as ever love to see the stats, 956mb and 41.3mph are both impressive figures but like me im sure you wished for better ( worse !)
And glad to see you got out Wazza considering you seem to be a bit limited in land locked M Keynes there. And you beat Graham by 0.7mph as well...big head !
Could you let me know what Anenometer you have, want one myself, to measure what i do not know ?!

Wazza, good work getting out with the H/H anemometer!! Much more adventerous than me, sitting in my cozy house with the wind howling around the anemometer up on the roof. I may say that because my home anemometer is at "regulation" 10m height, your gusts were probably actually quite a bit stronger, as I assume you were at ground level with the handheld unit held above your head? Looking forward to seeing the vid too!

Ju, you're absoluletly right.. I thought things would pick up after around 10pm but alas they died in the back-side and I never topped my peak gust which arrived relatively early in the evening (as per the table I posted). The west coast was definitely the place to be I think. Ahh well, one of these days us lads have to get lucky with these storm systems!

Yep I was stood with it above my head, there were a couple of bigguns whilst I was driving with twigs all over the road, but in measurement terms, 42mph!

Ju... It was a random purchase in Maplin Electrical store to be honest, £49.99. I was looking for some cable when I saw it and that was it... at the till!

Pretty good I think... Need to find a way of measuring it's accuracy, it says it's accurate, but I like to test it!
