| Well, say bye bye to the warm temps and the sun, as colder N/NE winds are set to stick right through the week with high pressure firmly in charge. This is going to drift in lots of low, murky cloud making October really feel like October! Here you can see the high fully in charge on Tuesday, with temps around the mid-teens. And Friday... Unfortunately I cannot get any more info on the temps as I believe my internet connection is playing up still, but I know they'll be around the low teens with night time temperatures dropping into single figures, perhaps with some frost in the north! So, cold, grey and boring then! | |

| Just about sums the week up there Wazza. Ive spent 30 minutes looking at GFS and cannot find much of note or interest to add to whats already there. Nightime temps will fall given the clear skies and little wind. Into the early hours throughout the week im seeing temps close to or at freezing in rural areas and moreso in N/NE England and Cent Scot. A UK average would be maybe 5C so autumn has now taken a hold of things.
As appears to be the case year after year we seem to get High Pressure systems sitting over the country giving very settled spells during the winter and yet a succession of Lows during the summer. A system as we have now would give nice warm and settled conditions in the summer and yet we always seem to get these set ups in the winter. I have run GFS out and cannot see much change throughout the week and maybe if anything daytime temps may fall a degree or two, always keeping a N/NE flow.
Taking a peek beyond that most forecasts point towards October following much the same pattern with temps close to or slightly below average. There are some signs that November will give an early cold spell with temps below average for much of the country and dare i say some wintry weather in some parts of the country. Obviously pure speculation at this point in time but rest assured temps will drop and winter is on its way .

| Most of the week has been a dry radar from what i've peeked at. Who knows - maybe we will be treated by mountains of snowfall this winter! | |

| Mountains of snowfall would be real cool! They have forecast another harsh winter, and this comes from the people who have forecast the last two! | |

| Looking slightly further afield, it looks like the Philippines could be on target to get hit by Typhoon Megi, possibly tomorrow/monday. There is a pretty cool animation here:

and the full story here:

| Man this typhoon has really intensified overnight and is now a Category 5. Pressure down to 895hpa with wind speeds around the 180mph mark (depending on which report you read).
Check out that satellite loop again, it's looking savage!

There is another one here which is quite cool and includes times in UTC:

Pray for the poor folk in the northern Philippines who are bracing for it making landfall soon! | |

| Can't wait to see the first videos, that is for sure. This thing sounds like a total beast!! I've started a dedicated thread over in the Asia forum (thanks Wazza ) with links to any decent resources about the typhoon, that I've come across so far: http://www.metweatheruk.com/asia-f13/super-typoon-megi-category-5-t158.htm | |
