| And... still no storms!
This week we will see high pressure dominating the UK with temperatures steadily climbing as the week progresses, only into the low teens so no heat like we saw the other week!
Tuesday will see a band of persistent rain with an occluded front move across from west to east, heaviest rain in the west across Wales.
Then for the remainder of the week we will see drier conditions move back in, with nothing storm wise forecast as yet, but towards the weekend an atlantic system may swing in a front or two but that's a way off yet.
Winds will for the beginning of the week be coming from that cool Northerly direction, but look like they'll swing round to a nice southerly as the area of High moves east - nice!
This is going to be a long spring I think, just like that long winter we have just gotten rid of!

| I know this is totally fantasy-island stuff, but GFS is hinting at some potential favourable conditions for storms on Sunday: Obviously far too early to call, but at least there's some potential in the pipeline for the weekend. | |

| Yeah i've seen those numbers, but as you say I expect those to change quite considerably. Those numbers in France are nice! | |

| Yes if this comes off, France is definitely the place to be! Tis a shame we're not getting those sort of conditions over UK soil. | |

| Damn... The weekend is looking like we could see some thunderstorms finally! Only thing is I will only have Saturday daytime to get out there. It looks like Saturday/Sunday as the moisture really builds up from the south, Cape and LI look more favourable for Sunday as well as precip values. I'm real annoyed that the weekend I have off work and plan things, the storm clouds look set to build up. | |

| Just had a look over the morning runs for Sunday.
NetWeather are looking at storms into Sunday with torrential downpours. Looking at GFS models, yes a good possibility, but the Cape and LI numbers have dropped off quite a bit. It seems though that we will be having a trough and a cold front moving across the UK which is a very good sign. Plenty of moisture coming up from the south and with temps set to push towards 30C it's all looking promising.
The winds too are coming from a perfect direction, SW from the bay of Biscay which also excites me somewhat.
I wont post any models at the moment as they're a bit hit and miss with their data, but I'll for sure look tomorrow morning and post some stuff up.

| The north west of Scotland just had a nice little thunderstorm pass over! Would have been fun to watch this one:

Looks like it's winding down now though.

Pain in the rear not being able to chase. I'm hoping if anything does kick off it'll be late evening as I'll be around then!

| Hehe Marianne! You really know summer is here when you see those! Mark, deffo! Storms forecast earlier than once thought, today things could really kick off with a possible lively night on the cards! East and SE are forecast for the good stuff, but I'm looking too at the Midlands with these numbers. I'm at work tonight but finish around midnight so my gear will be in the car ready. Could be a good one this! | |

| I don't think at the mo I need to travel very far should things spark off. Looking at Hi-res NMM, looking like the Midlands will be the place to be. Certainly some convection out there now. Latest runs for 18:00. | |

| Thanks for keeping an eye on this.
I've been out, drove to Rugby and saw a lot of heavy rain and IC lightning, but no CG stuff. Tried taking a few pics but all pointless. Just White sky with no definition at all.
Looks to be quietening down now, although I'm happy with the areas I was expecting, I'm quite dissapointed with the way it turned out with no REAL lightning.

| Well the second system has just come and gone bit didn't produce anything but heavy to medium rainfall. Disappointed again as it was supposed to be a good storm day. O well....off to wait for the next storms later in the week apparantly now! | |

| Yeah deffo a let down today. Last night was very lively in Northamptonshire but only for sheet lightning. Had the shutter open for around 10 secs, but as there were so many flashes in just one flash, I got just lit up sky. Nice coverage though Mark, a coolness point for you! | |

If I had taken shampoo I could have showered.
