| Some possible interest for tomorrow then? Few watches out for heavy showers...
I will be at work so no fun for me, but JP and Kent are under the watches I believe?

| Ahh that's a shame Wazza... still, I'm betting you've got a pretty good view out of the train from where you're likely sitting?? I'd love to ride on a train in that seat!!! (closest I can get to a green with envy smiley) | |

| Lol it is a cool place to be without doubt. I don't really think a lot about that aspect of it really as I do it day in day out, and concentrating on driving kinda takes you away from any sorta viewing pleasure.
I was in the passenger bit earlier travelling to London when I last posted, went through a real downpour, and even though I didn't see any myself a bolt of lightning struck some signalling equipment and damaged it around the same location. It was being announced over Euston station when I arrived.

| Yeah I didn't think of that.. I guess when your driving, it's not like you can just sit and enjoy the scenery! Still, must be a unique position to ride that not many folk get to experience. Sounds like you were pretty close to the action yesterday too! We're getting some quite heavy passing showers at the moment, but nothing with any storm potential I don't think. | |

| I'd love to be able to take people for a spin in the cab. In ye old days you used to be able to, not now. Safety is their prime thing now after the rail crashes like. Just had a sneaky peek at radar, some nice downpours went by I see that for sure. Nothing diwn this way. | |

| Yeah I can imagine Wazza.. bit like I remember sitting on the flight deck of a 737 chatting to the pilot when I was on a flight as a teenager.. now of course you can't even get close to the flight-deck (for good reasons). It's a shame, but the way of the world!
Off to a rainy/drizzly start up here this morning.. seems like summer finished at the end of June this year!

| Hey just had a look at the netweather radar/lightening tracker and it looks like there's quite a bit of activity around the midlands at the mo. We've been getting heavy showers on and off all day. Just enough to make trying to do anything outside a gamble with a good soaking!

| Not sure if folk have seen this yet? http://www.torro.org.uk/site/forecast.php - Quote :
- TORRO CONVECTIVE DISCUSSION 2010/012
A TORRO CONVECTIVE DISCUSSION has been issued at 10:45GMT on Thursday 12th August 2010
Valid from/until: 10:45-0700GMT on Thursday 12th/Friday 13th August 2010 for the following regions of the United Kingdom & Eire:
N England
Midlands
E Anglia
SE England
THREATS
Hail 10-15mm diameter; wind gusts to 45-50mph; CG lightning; isolated tornadoes
SYNOPSIS
Large upper low in the North Sea with a NW'erly flow across the UK. A wrap-around occlusion is moving SE, introducing an unstable airmass. Lift from small shortwaves along with diurnal heating is allowing convection to develop, and scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are expected this afternoon. Gusty winds and hail are possible with stronger cores. The tornado risk is low, but the low cloud bases might allow an isolated one to develop, especially where topography enhances vorticity downstream. Overnight, further showers and thunderstorms are likely close to the east coast. Low-level wind fields will increase overnight, especially across the northern half of the area. Gusty winds may accompany the stronger cores, and a small tornado risk exists near the coast.

| well yesterday, we actually had a PROPER thunderstorm, scored a direct hit with st neots...had some brilliant lightning, and a fair few cloud to ground strikes, we managed to have 2 power cuts lasting about 5 mins each dhuring the storm...we had a few small storms pass over us during the day, but nothing you could call a proper storm until about 6pm...when a biggy came over! will upload the couple of pictures i got, i could not go far as i was loooking after my little boy so had to do what i could from my window! had some hail aswell...from all reports there was a dirct strike to the ground less than 1/4 mile from my house which sent the power out....i must have been looking the other way! but it shook the house and sounded like it was tearing the world in half lol this was the "proper storm approaching from my north east this was it from my mums house half hour before it came over me at my house.. | |
