| Not fun that mate, serious stuff! I'm really considering buying myself a massive pole to stick some gear on and erect it. Need to be able to record data if I go out on a chase. Only for my pure data logging pleasure. That's something for the future. I have a trailer in the garage, maybe I could do something with that? | |

| Thanks very much Wazza.. wasn't quite as dramatic a scene as I had hope for but I knew the chances were slim given the low tide. Still 40+MPH winds were fairly reasonable and the mast was certainly taking a beating. Good experience for me too as it's by far the most savage weather the lab has been out in. I think if the winds were much stronger, I would leave the very top segment of the 4 extending segments down, which adds to the mast's ability to withstand winds. Don't joke about the trailer idea. In my very early designs for the mobile lab, I did consider a trailer mounted setup (the advantage being I could deploy it and leave it at a site and also wouldn't require a speciality vehicle). | |

| It may be something I'd consider. May have to look into it. It's something too that I could tidy away in the garage when not in use maybe. Trouble is, when it comes to real technical stuff like that... | |

| Mate that'd be awesome! I've no idea on things to use such as software etc. I looked at some of the gear from Oregon Scientific but not sure how good this is?. Some of their stuff comes with PC software for gathering data. Something I deffo want to do for the future. | |

| No worries Wazza, the OS stuff is probably the best of the 'domestic' stuff. I run an Oregon Scientific home here (but it's 5 years old now!!). If I was to buy a new setup tomorrow, I'd consider this fella:

Much better build quality than the OS stuff and a little more towards the pro line too (guess I'd consider it "semi pro"). In fact when the OS packs up (likely not too far away), this is possibly what I'll replace it with. | |
